Partner training is a great way to get the most out of your time in the gym and here’s why:

Improve consistency:
We all have those days where working out drops right down the to-do list, but if you have a gym date with your buddy booked into the diary you’re going to be a lot less likely to skip that session. The feeling of not wanting to let someone else down can act as a great motivator to get you onto the gym floor.

Achieve your goals:
Once your training becomes more consistent you’ll be a step closer to achieving your goals, but having your training buddy in your session will help push you that little bit further. Whether it be the encouraging command of “JUST ONE MORE” when fatigue is creeping in, or that subtle friendly competition to beat or match what your partner just did, all roads lead to positive gains!

Have more fun:
Training needs to be consistent to be effective, but that shouldn’t mean that it’s boring. Having a partner to train with can make going to the gym a whole lot more fun. Encourage and motivate each other as your train and catch up and have a laugh between sets: your workouts will feel more like a social event than a challenging chore.

Train safe:
Having a spotter on hand is priceless: your partner can keep an eye on your form and give you the confidence to keep pushing, even when you feel like you’re going to fail. The last thing you want, when you’re working hard to get results, is the setback of an injury and having a training buddy on hand will make that much less likely!

Shake things up:
No one likes looking like they don’t know what they’re doing so it can be daunting trying a new exercise alone. Having a training partner with you will give you more confidence to attempt a new exercise or different style of training, adding much needed variety to shake up your training programme.

Celebrate achievements:
With all the benefits of training with a partner you’re bound to have made some serious gains, and the best part of having a training buddy is being able to celebrate all that progress together. Besides you can’t high 5 yourself!
