Without sufficient mobility in the ankle, your squat mechanics will be seriously affected meaning you will be restricted from achieving the squat depth you would otherwise be capable of. Considering that a deep squat is one of the best exercises to help develop killer legs and glutes, improving ankle mobility should therefore be a much higher priority within training programmes.
